Because the PLSI is funded on a year-to-year basis, the dates and deadlines given are contingent on money being available for the program.
Application Details
You must complete the online application and submit all required documents by the deadline of Friday, March 14, 2025. However, if your application is completed by February 14, we will communicate with you by March 18, 2025. We will make all admission decisions by April 25, 2025.Please gather all of your application information and documentation prior to submitting. See below for a list of these materials. The portal will open on January 15, 2025. Apply early!

of of membership in a federally-recognized tribe. If you are not enrolled, but have a quantum of ¼ or more or are a first descendant of a member, please provide that documentation, along with an explanation of why you are not enrolled. First descendants should be prepared to submit a copy of the parent’s proof of membership and a birth certificate.
Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB). (If your proof of membership indicates your blood quantum, we do not need a separate CDIB).
LSAT Candidate Score Report (that shows your LSAT scores, testing dates, and percentiles.) You must submit this report because PLSI is not a law school and does not have access to the LSAC database.
Proof of complete application to an ABA-accredited law school (e.g., a copy of an email or photocopy of a law school’s acknowledgement letter indicating that your application is complete.) You need not be admitted to apply to PLSI, but you need to show at least one complete application to a law school. Please note that it might take a couple of weeks from the date of application to receive confirmation from a law school that your application is complete and ready for review.
Two (2) letters of recommendation. Letters should be written by professors familiar with your college work. If you have been out of school for more than two years, your letters should be written by people familiar with your performance in the work place. We prefer to see the letters submitted with your law school applications. If your recommenders prefer to send letters directly to PLSI, please have them forward letters to ailcinfo@law.unm.edu.
Copy of law school admission letter. This is required only if you have been admitted; you will be considered for admission to the PLSI regardless of your admission status.
